In an exclusive interview, Chris Smith shared his firsthand account of the Ali-Beatles encounter. “This is taken at the famous Fifth Street gym in Miami where Ali, or Cassius Clay as he was then, was training for his first fight with Sonny Liston,” Smith recalls. “The Beatles were on their first major tour, and they happened to be in the States, so they turned up in Miami for a concert. When they heard Ali was training, they decided to visit the gym to watch him in action.”
